Background
About Jamie Pratt
My interpretive guiding career began at my baby sister's teaparty-themed 4th birthday party. I commandeered my sibling, her friends, and all of their tea-drinking dolls to gift them a surprise informational tour of our backyard pond life. I was six years old. Since then, I’ve been finding every way I can to share the secrets of nature and history with (sometimes unsuspecting) audiences from all over the world. From documentary filmmaking and science blogging, to tour guiding, I’ve built my career around telling stories that connect people with land, nature, and history. Currently, I spend half the year in Chilean Patagonia, designing and delivering one-of-a-kind history and hiking tours in Punta Arenas at Indómita Adventures Patagonia. In the Austral winter, I return to my native Canada to learn and work as a hiking guide in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. If you want to deliver unforgettable experiences to travelers, then I’d love to work together! What can I offer to our collaboration-Immersive Tour Design: I have the profound privilege to live and guide in two dream destinations. Most people will come only once, and I want to make it count. That’s why I go above and beyond to create the most meaningful experiences for my clients. From the itinerary to the snacks, the stories, and the soundtrack, I design experiences that immerse travelers in the beauty and history of their surroundings-Versatile Storytelling: Over my career, I’ve told stories to some truly diverse audiences. I’ve taught programs for babies learning about the difference between mammals and reptiles. I've led guided hikes for nonagenarians through the Patagonian Forest. I've even taught school kids how to bake in a wood stove while wearing full historical garb. With my broad experience, plus my background in improvisational theatre, I’m extremely adept at tailoring my stories to my audience. I love delighting guests with a customized narrative that connects them with their surroundings and creates a more memorable experience-A Voracious Appetite for Learning: As a hopeless nerd, I’m always hungry for new knowledge, new insights, and old wisdom. Perhaps that is why I’ve chosen a career that requires me to constantly keep learning new skills and expanding my knowledge of the world. If you have a dream tour in Punta Arenas to design and deliver, a creative challenge in the field of tourism to overcome, or a new knowledge frontier for me to dive in to, get in touch! Because I am interested.
