About Jamie Read

A connector of people and strong relationship builder, I have worked in leadership roles in the arts, education, and charity sectors for over 20 years, prior to which I was a professional theatre performer with an international career. My diverse experience has seen me working as a teacher and mentor to students on vocational courses at Level 3 through to BA Hons, and into leadership positions within cultural and education charity organisations from Department Head through to CEO. In 2022 I was honoured with fellowship of the Society of Leadership Fellows at St George's House, Windsor Castle, in recognition of my work in arts education and leadership. A specialist in the area of Inclusion, I have worked throughout my career to support those whose voices are heard less often in our society and to champion access to the arts in particular. Alongside my core career I have run various small businesses, winning multiple awards for networking and contribution to local SME support networks. This has included experience running coaching and consulting businesses, arts education organisations, and business networking/growth groups. Great with new ideas, change management, and building consensus in a team, I have also enjoyed volunteering as a trustee for several start-up charities (including currently serving as Chair). I am a certified Leadership Coach, and my Post Graduate studies through the University of Wales Trinity St David's allowed me to publish and present my pedagogical research in London, Berlin and Barcelona.
