About Jamie Southgate

As a highly driven and experienced professional in the field of public health and genomics, I am committed to making a positive impact in the world through my work. With a strong background in both bioinformatics and computer science, I bring a unique blend of technical expertise and a passion for improving global health outcomes. Currently, I am the lead for Operations at PHA4GE (Public Health Alliance for Genomic Epidemiology), where I oversee the day-to-day functioning of the organization and ensure that our initiatives are aligned with our mission of leveraging genomics for public health. In this role, I have successfully managed multiple projects, collaborated with diverse teams, and implemented innovative strategies to drive our mission forward. Prior to this, I served as a Communications Officer and also chaired the Bioinformatics Pipelines and Data Visualization Working Group. Through these roles, I gained a deep understanding of the importance of effective communication and teamwork in achieving organizational goals. My master's degree in Bioinformatics and honors degree in Computer Science have equipped me with a strong foundation in both the technical and theoretical aspects of my field. In addition to my professional pursuits, I am an avid cyclist and runner.
