About Jamina Clay

Child centered, humanistic educator who leads and inspires those she leads to be leaders. Jamina has worked in education for over 15 years serving diverse school populations and communities. A change agent and transformative leader, she started her career in the New York City Public School System, before working in Westbury, New York. She has led both charter and district schools in the Philadelphia area. Jamina has experience coaching aspiring and sitting Administrators as they develop their equity focused leadership and operationalize their vision. She is currently an Assistant Superintendent with the School District of Philadelphia where she supports leaders seeking to implement transformative change in order to improve student outcomes. Over the course of her career Jamina has developed skills as a teacher, teacher leader, central office leadership and building level administration. Skilled at professional development and curriculum development she has created and delivered district-wide professional developments for teachers and administrators. These professional developments have led to direct impact on the instructional delivery provided to students. Unapologetically child focused, she works every day to support leaders as they create enriching educational experiences for students. In addition to her full time position as an Assistant Superintendent, Jamina proudly sits on the Colonial School District School Board of Directors. Elected in Fall of 2021, she is one of three members who are the first Black School Board Directors in Colonial. She works to elevate the voices of the marginalized students and families in the community and to ensure that decisions are made with equity in mind.
