About Jan Bartacek

Curtrently, I work as Assistant Professor at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague. My main interest is wastewater treatment with emphasis on resource recovery from wastewaters. At the same moment, I continue on my previous topics, i.e. trace metal limitation in anaerobic granular sludge and metal transport in methanogenic granules. My main qualification is wastewater technology and environmental chemistry. I received my MSc. and Ph.D. degree in Environmental Chemistry and Technology at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague (The Czech Republic). During my Ph.D. study, I co-worked on several wastewater-related projects with the industry (e.g."Hydraulic characteristics of anaerobic digesters at the Wastewater Treatment Plant of Prague." or "Development of technology for treatment of industrial wastewater from nitrocellulose production."). In June 2008, I joined UNESCO-IHE as a Post-Doc researcher within Marie Curie Intra European Fellowship "Bioavailability of trace metals in anaerobic granular sludge reactors". In 2006 - 2008, I was employed as a Postdoc in the Marie Curie Excellent Team at the Sub-department of Environmental Technology, Wageningen University (The Netherlands). Specialties: I have a special interest in Magnetic Resonance Imaging that we used for metal transport studies in anaerobic granular sludge.
