About Jan Chance

I have been involved in the education field my entire career. I began as a high school teacher and then went back to college for a masters degree. At that point, I started coaching Division I women's basketball. I was a Division I assistant coach for 7 years in the role of recruiting coordinator. I also assisted with on the floor practice and game coaching. After leaving college coaching, I went back to teaching before obtaining the position at Hayes Arboretum. Due to cutbacks, I left Hayes Arboretum and obtained a position with Communities In Schools of Wayne County, Indiana. CIS is a national dropout prevention program. The local affiliate has been in Wayne County for 10 years. I made a move to Estero, Florida in late August 2012. After being with a grant funded afterschool program for about 5 months, I was blessed with the opportunity to join the New Horizons of Southwest Florida team in February 2013. New Horizons is a Christian ministry offering afterschool tutoring and support for students kindergarten through seniors in high school. I am also the Site Director for the Teen Club - middle school and high school age. We offer tutoring, homework assistance, and other academic support for students. We also have a daily Bible lesson which is one of my favorite times with the students. God has blessed me by being a part of such an impactful organization.
