About Jan-Dirk Janssen
During a holiday job as a cleaning worker in a hospital I managed to get an comprehensive overview of the ICU an OR. Since then I was captivated by the combination of state of the art technology and the wellbeing of patients. Therefore I decided to study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences (THM) in Giessen. In Prof. Dr. Thomas Schanzes workgroup "Biosignal-Analysis and Neuroprosthetics" and the Institute for Biomedical Engineering, I gained first experiences in teaching and research, which lead to a job as teacher in the study course "Systems and Control Theory" as well as two peer reviewed Paper. Parallel to my masters program I worked since 2016 as a project manager in the DAAD Project BIONIQ. Through my intensive work - the supervision of PhD Students and the organisation of conferences, workshops and summer schools - the University of Duhok opened the "Department of Biomedical Engineering" in the fall 2018.
