About Jan-Harm du Plessis

As a Project Management and Architectural Graduate, I have more than 20 years’ experience in the Built Environment through all phases of project implementation (Inception, Concept, Preliminary Design, Detail Design, Contract Documentation, Procurement, Construction Supervision, Quality Control, FIDIC & JBCC based Contract Management and Project Compliance & Close-Out) with comprehensive knowledge of National and International Building & Quality Standards. Further to this I have over 10 years Team Leader Experience in national and international development / donor funded projects comprising of five (5) projects co-financed by the German Government through KFW Development Bank. I have specific interest and experience in the field of Sustainable “Green” Building Development, which formed the basis of my recent Project Management for Construction Master’s Dissertation studies where I graduated with distinction. I apply my trade mostly in developing countries which include South Africa, Lesotho, Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania Mozambique, DRC, Kenya and Nigeria. Therefore, I recognize the challenges associated with rural infrastructure, inter-governmental relations, decentralization and policy reform. Thru my involvement in development projects I gained extensive experience in community / beneficiary driven development and also managed to facilitate and support the successful implementation of infrastructure thru; the promotion of ownership, promotion of effective and efficient management of infrastructure, strengthening of strategic partnerships and broad-stakeholder participation. I am diligent in my approach and I implement all aspects of my work with the upmost humility and competence.
