About Jan Klok

As a Scientist at Shell, I apply my PhD in Environmental Technology and my extensive experience in biotechnology and process engineering to develop and optimize bioenergy solutions that are sustainable, efficient, and profitable. I am passionate about creating innovative and scalable biofuels and bioproducts that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance energy security. Before joining Shell, I was an R&D Manager at Paqell, a joint venture between Shell and Paques, where I led a team of researchers and engineers to design and operate pilot plants for biogas upgrading and sulfur recovery. I also collaborated with Wageningen University and Research Centre as a guest researcher for more than six years, where I contributed to several publications and projects on environmental technology and bioprocesses. Through these roles, I honed my skills in team management, systems analysis, modeling, optimization, and reporting, and I received the public award for Engineer of the Year in 2018.
