About Jan Ostermann
I am a health policy and global health research leader with 20+ years of experience designing, implementing, and evaluating public health programs and interventions across the world, including in the Americas, Africa, and Asia. My work focuses on improving health systems, addressing disparities, and translating evidence into impactful policy—particularly in the areas of child wellbeing, vaccinations, HIV prevention and linkage to care, and health workforce planning. As an Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina and Adjunct Associate Professor at Duke University and Wake Forest University, I have led interdisciplinary teams, secured competitive funding, and published extensively citations, h-index 44). My expertise spans health economics, stated preference research, including discrete choice experiments, and mixed-methods research, with a strong record of stakeholder engagement and capacity building in low- and middle-income countries. I thrive at the intersection of research, policy, and practice—working with governments, NGOs, and academic partners to design solutions that are both evidence-based and context-sensitive. Whether leading evaluations for complex health interventions or advising on strategic health policy, I bring a collaborative, analytical, and impact-driven approach to every project. Core Competencies: • Global health policy & programme evaluation • Health economics research • HIV care delivery & telehealth models • Vaccination equity & rural-urban health disparities • Academic leadership & mentoring • Stakeholder engagement & policy translation Open to consultancy opportunities that leverage my expertise to drive meaningful change in public health, policy, and global health research.
