About Jan Pravda

Being a child, I heard programming nor computers would never make my living. I'm so glad these people were completely wrong. For my last 18 years of a professional career plus many years before spent coding with my friends, I've met many great people. Some of them have been my colleagues or business partners ever since - lucky me! Over the years, as our product grew organically, there was a lot to be learned, not only on the programming level. We had servers, databases, networks, and firewalls that needed to be taken care of. As my path to the CTO role progressed, these blinking toys and lines of code became a joy to play with. I had to start learning a completely different skill set. Excellent tech skills, soft skills, healthy empathy, planning or management skills - none of these alone makes a good CTO. Balancing them will make one definitively - the "never-ending" learning story starts here again. I want to encourage all the people reading this resume not to be afraid of learning new topics and skills. Not to be frightened of talking to their team members, partners and clients. To step out of their comfort zone and do something different, something new. It will kick-start not only you but also the people around you - the people you need the most!
