About Jan Rooderkerk

From the early seventies in last century I worked for almost 15 years as an editor/reporter/presenter for the Dutch broadcasting companies AVRO and TROS radio (incl. a weekly car column on radio), as automotive sports reporter (F1 and rallies) and as a presenter for AVRO television (a.o. AVRO's Dutch predecessor of Top Gear: Avro's Hoogste Versnelling). I also wrote and translated books on cars and automotive sports. Producing and presenting for the business radio program Per Saldo enabled me to extend my knowledge and experience in the fields of a.o. quality assurance and marketing. In 1985 I decided to start out on my own as an entrepreneur. I was privileged to set up and own PR and communications agencies employing up to 25 people. See below for details. We designed campaigns for international clients (including Q8, RayBan, Mobil Oil, Jaguar, Toyota) and developed and produced numerous magazines, such as KNAC magazine De Auto, Seasons magazine and Domicilium lifestyle magazine. I am still involved in magazines today, as one of the activities of Roodworks communicatie. In between, I was a board member of the KNAC (Royal Dutch Automobile Club), vice-chairman of the KNAF (KNAC National Autosport Federation) and board member of the HARC (Historic Car Race Club). From 2010, I worked part time for Fisker Nederland on the positioning of the electrically powered Fisker Karma. The Netherlands became Fisker Automotive's most successful export market. As a result, I became increasingly interested in sustainability, in a healthier lifestyle and in electric vehicles. At the end of 2013, I started a digital lifestyle magazine for sophisticated men and women. I had to stop it, but I still develop magazine concepts, I write about cars for a.o. the high-end Qualis Magazine and for Kroymans, I produced the customer relations magazine Persoonlijk of J&T Autolease, I founded the EV Coöperatie U.A. that promotes electric vehicles and I work as a PR-advisor for startups in electric cars. I also am an ambassador of the VER, the Dutch organisation for driving electric cars and a boardmember of carsharing platform After some healthproblems I am working a bit less now, in my company Roodworks.com, but 'a bit less' is still five days a week.
