About Jan Rossiter

I’m a respiratory therapist (RRT) with critical care experience (ACLS, PALS, NRP), working in medical simulation (MSc, CHSE, CHSOS). I think about how medical simulation is implemented - from identifying learning objectives, to scenario design, to using physical simulators in conjunction with clinical equipment. Ultimately the technology should fade into the background to let the facilitator focus on the learners and engage in a high-quality debriefing after the session. Over the years I've also had the chance to lead extended wilderness expeditions, compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics (cross country skiing), coach youth ski and biathlon teams, facilitate wilderness medicine courses and collaborate with a medical device company. I’m also passionate about human factors, risk management, high performance sport and teams, exercise and environmental physiology, photography, orienteering, repairing things, and user interface design.
