My research interests in the area of advanced electronic, photonic and spintronic materials include the following: • scanning probe microscopy applied to materials characterisation (AFM, c-AFM, PFM, EFM, MFM, KPFM, STM/STS.) • nanoscale electronic / ionic transport in low-dimensional correlated electron systems • domain walls and heterointerfaces in semiconducting complex oxides (multiferroics) • nanoscale properties of organic semiconductors and biofilms • nanotechnology enhanced photovoltaics / thermoelectrics • skyrmion systems and topologically protected structures • electrochromism • nanoscale phase separation • nano-optics and spectroscopy, plasmonics • X-ray based synchrotron techniques (XAS, XMCD and XMLD-PEEM) • high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and spectroscopy (EELS)
