About Jan Sixta

I am an electronics enthusiast, who loves to design, build and test various circuits and instrumentation for both my job and as my hobby. I have studied at the CTU FEE Prague. I have specialized on power engineering and motor control, as I have had some previous experience building small switch-mode power supplies. As part of my bachelor studies I have successfully designed and developed a prototype of a motor controller for an induction motor. As a student, I have participated in designing electronics hardware for the formula student electric team eForce here in Prague. I have focused on designing tractive system related parts such as custom battery management system, tractive accumulator charger or pilot interface with a graphical LCD display, integrated in the steering wheel. My job in STMicroelectronics to help their customers to solve a wide range of both HW and SW related issues has broaden my knowledge of ARM architecture and specifically STM32 microcontrollers. I have improved my C programming skills. In my free time, if not occupied with occasional contract work, I try to educate myself and experiment with multimedia related applications, especially audio. I have designed and built different kinds of audio amplifiers, signal processing kits (both analog and in the digital domain), speaker cabinets or simple test instruments. Lately my interest has shifted also towards imaging and video technologies, which has lead me to the FPGA world. I am currently learning VHDL on Intel (former Altera) FPGA devices.
