About Jan Stecker

After completing my high school education at SPSE Zochova, I opted not to pursue a college education in order to gain hands-on experience, as I had already learned extensively through self-study. At Socialna Poistovna, I started building enterprise web applications using Angular on the front-end and J2EE on the back-end. I then inherited a large number of batch applications (UI-less, consisting only of Java and SQL) which needed to be optimized, cleaned up (mostly by rewriting), and automated. I managed to speed up daily processes by an average of 70%(5 hours) and automated them. Additionally, I created some indexes on our database (tables ranging from millions to hundreds of millions of rows) that enhanced the speed of few processes. After changing place of work and the industry, I’ve realized banking sector is my go-to. I like to be precise in work I put out, I like the instant feedback of product owners that need their application to be perfect. I have collaborated in teams, and even went through tough problems solo. I am not afraid to ask and I am always glad to help. Currently, I am learning Polish language because it is close to my heart (my mother grew up near polish border) and because I really like the language.
