About Jan Trachet
I studied archaeology at the Universities of Ghent & Coimbra between 2006 and 2010. In my master dissertation I focused on the detection of submerged medieval villages in SE Zeeland. After completing the National Teaching Qualification for history (2011) and a post-graduate course in GIS (2012), I worked 1.5 years in commercial archaeology. In my PhD I studied medieval outports along the Zwin tidal inlet northeast of Bruges (2013-2016). My current postdoc research concerns a study of Pieter Pourbus' maps.
