About Jana Bernhardt

As a Policy Advisor for Sustainability and Social Policy at Gesamtmetall, the Federation of German Employers‘ Associations in the Metal and Electrical Engineering Industries, I work with a team of experts to monitor, analyze, and influence EU policy issues and developments in legislation, aiming at maintaining and enhancing the competitiveness of the German and European metal and electrical industry. I draw on my master’s degree in Governance and Public Policy and my previous experience as a Policy Advisor at Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, a German political foundation, to provide evidence-based and foundation-related positions and reports to our stakeholders. My strong interest in economics, social policy and the broad field of digitalization is demonstrated by my Master’s thesis on Gaia-X, an initiative to create a secure, trustworthy, and sovereign data infrastructure in and for Europe. My fluent written and oral skills in German, English, and French enable me to communicate effectively and build a network with think tanks, NGOs, representatives from the EU institutions, and other relevant actors. In my current position, I am dedicated to shaping EU policy issues and developments in legislation to ensure that the German and European metal and electrical industry remains competitive in the European and global market. My expertise in sustainability and social policy is essential in this regard. I am also keen on exploring the potential of digitalisation and AI in the industry and its impact on society.
