About Jana Close

Jana joined Encore as Accountant in December 2004. As acquisitions fueled company growth, Jana was promoted to Controller in 2013 and to Vice President, Finance in 2017. She completed her Commerce Degree at the University of Manitoba in and earned her CPA, CGA designation in 2012. During her 17-year tenure, Jana has gained in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP, becoming an internal power user while broadening her knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem. Through three significant acquisitions, Jana has assessed and adapted internal processes to align with Encore finance and business structure. She has continuously honed her technical skills, allowing her to exercise her passion for designing reports and running queries. In addition to the day to day operations of the accounting and administrative team, Jana manages cashflow, guides managers through development of budgets, assists with completion of the annual SRED claim, works with audit and tax partners as required and prepares various information for presentation to shareholders and external stakeholders. The complexity of Encore operations requires a clear understanding of the corporate structure, departmental allocations, foreign currency translation and consolidations. Jana strives to issue complete and accurate financial statements for Canadian, US and Consolidated operations to support informed planning and decision making. Jana participates in professional development opportunities as required by the CPA Association to maintain her professional status and to ensure compliance with accounting and finance regulations. Additionally, Jana enjoys growing her technical skills. She has an aptitude for pulling data from various sources and gathering it in useful formats. She has self-taught basic skills in Microsoft SQL server and has developed numerous SSRS reports.
