About Jane Avis

With over 30 years of experience in science education, I have developed a passion for teaching and writing science for learners of different ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Apart from many years work at United Herzlia schools, I taught science online at Valenture Institute, following the Pearson Edexcel Curriculum, and worked at the Green School, a progressive and innovative school that fosters sustainability and creativity. I also write and overwrite life sciences and combined science textbooks and guides for Cambridge University Press South Africa and other well known publishing companies, adhering to various national and international standards.My core competencies include teacher training, project-based learning, curriculum development, flipped classroom methodology, inquiry and project based learning. I employ a dynamic and engaging teaching style that encourages curiosity, scientific thinking, and literacy among my students. I work well with people, listening, interpreting, and identifying their strengths and needs. I believe in collaboration and team building through sufficient training and follow-ups. My mission is to inspire and empower learners and educators to explore and appreciate the wonders of science and nature.
