About Jane Brooks

Focused on innovative solutions and results, has a proven track record of adaptive leadership demonstrated through the many roles and positions that have been held over the past 20 years. Currently I hold the position of National Senior Physician Lead for Deloitte Consulting Canada. I am an emergency room physician in the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia. I have held positions and sat on over 40 committees and working groups at local, provincial and national levels, including being the President and Chair of the Board of Doctors Nova Scotia and a Board Director and Honorary Treasurer of the Canadian Medical Association. I was the Chief of Staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital for many years as well as Chief of the Emergency Department. I have sat on numerous committees including finance, governance, human resource and compensation, appointments and credentialing, policy and healthy issues, post grad education, ministerial oversight and family medicine residency curriculum development to name a few. More recently, I describe myself as one of a growing number of medical futurists. My primary care and emergency room work has benefited from the courses that I have done over the years in areas such as strategy, governance, operations reviews, leadership development, organization design, performance management, culture change, communications and team development. My unique combination of primary and hospital-based care, health care administration and medical leadership has now been strengthened by an MBA. I currently hold active full-time licenses in both Nova Scotia in British Columbia and work in both provinces. At present, the majority of my clinical work is as an emergency room physician and medical director of two large nursing homes. Over my clinical career, I was the cofounder of a large multi community multi-disciplinary collaborative practice in rural Nova Scotia wherein I had a practice of approximately patients until 2016.
