About Jane Buncle

Jane is a barrister at Omnia Chambers in Sydney. Jane has been recognised as a leading junior barrister of the Australian Bar in the Legal 500 Rankings and in Best Lawyers Australia. Jane is regularly briefed in commercial matters in the Supreme Court and Federal Court, as well as Royal Commissions and international commercial arbitrations. Jane is also a member of the panel for the Commonwealth DPP and the panel of the NSW DPP. In addition to being on Omnia Chambers in Sydney, Jane is a member of Maxwell42 Commercial Arbitration Chambers in Singapore. It is the first chambers established outside Australia by members of the Australian bar with a focus on international commercial arbitrations. Prior to coming to the bar, Jane was a solicitor in the Dispute Resolution Group at the leading international law firm, Herbert Smith Freehills, where she primarily focused on representative proceedings (class actions) and regulatory matters. Jane has completed the Bachelor of Civil Law at Oxford University and a Bachelor of Laws from Edinburgh University where she was awarded the Margaret Balfour Keith Prize. Since June 2025, Jane has been the member and representative of the Hon Mark Speakman SC MP on the Administrative Committee of the NSW Liberal Party led by the Hon Nick Greiner AC. She has previously been a board member of the Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA), the Burdekin Association (a youth homelessness not for profit on the northern beaches and inner west of Sydney) and KYDS on the North Shore of Sydney. She also regularly volunteers as a lifeguard at Manly Life Saving Club, and as a volunteer barrister at the Refugee Caseworker Service, the Environmental Defenders Office and the Duty Barrister Scheme. In 2022 she was recognised for her outstanding contribution in providing legal support to the Northern Beaches Domestic Violence Network.
