About Jane Diamond

I have 35 years experience in contemporary dance and dance/theater as a performer, choreographer and teacher. I have been a performer with Tasdance, Buzz Dance Theater, Fieldworks Performance Group, Steamworks Productions, Isanda Performance Group, ID 339 and Chrissie Parrott. I have also freelanced as a teacher and performer in Victoria and Perth, Western Australia, collaborated with musicians and visual artists on performance works as well as research and development. I have an extensive background in teaching contemporary dance at primary, secondary and tertiary level and drama at secondary level in the education sector and arts community. I was lecturer in contemporary dance at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and tutor During this time I taught contemporary dance technique, composition, improvisation, teaching methods, alignment and body/mind practices, choreographed numerous dance works for public performance seasons. I taught at John Curtin College of the Arts for seven years in drama and dance, was Dance Coordinator at Hampton SHS. In the last fifteen years my focus has been theater and drama/dance education, directing plays and creating contemporary performance work at secondary level. My interest is in cross disciplinary performance work, with a strong accent on visual design. I have held the role of Head of Arts Faculty at Guildford Grammar School for 8 years and now am moving into a new role for 2019, Director of Productions which will allow me to expand drama performance and explore the development of dance in the curriculum.
