About Jane Dini

Education M.A, Ph.D. University of California, Santa Barbara Bio Jane Dini, was Associate Curator of American Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Previously, she was Assistant Curator of American Art at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Jane received her Ph.D. and M.A. in the History of Art from the University California, Santa Barbara. She also trained at Sotheby's, London and has held the NEA Curatorial Fellowship at the Harvard University Art Museums, predoctoral fellowship at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and was awarded the two-year Woodrow Wilson Postdoctoral Fellowship at California State University, Los Angeles. Jane’s teaching appointments include Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and Visiting Lecturer at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and California Institute of Technology. Among her publications she has written several essays on the artist John Singer Sargent including contributing essayist to the exhibition catalogue, Sargent and Italy (Princeton) and the editor of the NEA and NEH funded exhibition catalogue Dance: American Art 1830-1960 (Yale). Jane is currently preparing a book, Unifying the Arts: John Singer Sargent’s Murals in Boston.
