About Jane Ewing

As NECA's first NSW Field Officer for female engagement, I primarily promote women into the Electrical Industry to be paid to learn this trade without a study debt for a great career path prior to studying at university for an Electrical Engineering degree or project management, etc. This dynamic career sets them up for financial security and one where AI cannot take over their job. Another essential aspect is encouraging businesses to embrace diversity, inclusiveness, and respect to bring higher retention and safety at worksites. My core business was to teach maths and its applications at secondary school (p/t) and, support undergraduate students at UTS (p/t) for 23 years, and trade students at TAFE (p/t) with the maths relevant, particularly to the Electrical & other industries, plus aviation and nursing, and support Indigenous students in helping them achieve their goals. Mentored young people in the year-long Inaugural Indigenous Youth Leadership Program of Peter Bland,'Outback to Icecap', to enhance their personal growth, self-confidence, and resilience, culminating in an Antarctic expedition as one of a specially selected group of mentors. Activities included ice-climbing, abseiling, kayaking, summitting Mt Hoffgaard, sleeping out on the ice, and an Antarctic plunge! My research arm is the development of instrumentation to measure, monitor, and guide improved outcomes for adolescents and young adults (AYA) with Cancer and Blood Disorders and their families. I’m published in this field and have established a scholarship at Auckland University to promote, encourage, and support other researchers in this overlooked area. Advisory committee: The EARLI Project to enhance advanced care planning for people with different forms of Dementia and other illnesses. Previous advisory positions for NZ Cancer Control Strategy 1998, NZ Youth Health Action Plan, and Youth Development Plan, Australian Cancer Senate Inquiry, and NSW Greater Transitional Task Force for Adolescents with Chronic Illness and Complex Needs. Future: I plan to promote more research about the lived experience for AYA with C & BD as well as Younger Onset Dementia (YODS) & Active Ageing in Dementia (AAiD), and to publish books to help the funding.
