About Jane Hansen

During the 1990s, I founded the company Danske Sprogseminarer (Danish Language Seminars). My interest in working with languages was originally awakened back when I took an MA in Danish and English at the University of Copenhagen. Subsequently, on the basis of the experience I gained in ten years as a consultant and project manager at UNIWARE, I developed the business idea for Danske Sprogseminarer. I became managing director of the company in 2001. At first, the company was primarily concerned with organising lectures, and we were guested by a number of famous names, including the author Isabelle Allende and the world-famous linguist David Crystal. With time, however, the concept evolved further. I expanded many of the lecture topics to provide the one-day and two-day courses which today are the hallmark of Danske Sprogseminarer. I am constantly working on new initiatives to develop the company, such as our network group, Sprognetværket (the Language Network), activities on the social media, and a language blog linked to our website. I am an entrepreneur, and it is very satisfying to have your own business in which the distance from idea to action is short. I co-operate with many highly-qualified linguists who form the backbone of the company. I am also very fond of teaching; my own skills lie primarily in the areas of grammar, spelling, punctuation and proofreading.
