About Jane Indigo

I am a Professional Artist, working mainly in Oils. Having been a Studio based Portrait Artist for many years, I have recently discovered the joy of Plein Air (outdoor ) painting. I have always liked to work from life where possible, as it adds a different energy to that achieved by working entirely from photographs. With Portrait work this isn't always possible but meeting the subjects and taking my own photos or sketches serves where it is. I am now loving painting more land and sea subjects from life, and sometimes adding in a living element like animals or humans in more detail later. As Artist my inspirations have always come from the beauties in Nature and Wildlife, as well as enjoying the infinite variety of human emotions and experience reflected in a subject. It's this life force I look to capture in my Portrait work. I accept commissions in the above and offer work in Oil, Pencil and Watercolour mainly. I also paint and illustrate childrens furniture to a very high standard, having learned the techniques for this at "Dragons of Walton Street" where I was a studio Artist for eight years.
