Background

About Jane James

My career has centred on education and on personal and organisational development. I have worked in all sectors of education from early years to university. For three years I was Development Director of a large day nursery company with responsibility for 700 staff in 36 units across the country. I have been a governor of two schools in Bath: Widcombe Infants School and Ralph Allen School where for fourteen years, I have been involved in governor and leadership development. I am a business partner at Bristol Business School working on leadership development programmes particularly for the NHS. I have published and delivered at conferences in Europe. I have been part of a research team at the University of Bath investigating school governing. I am a qualified leadership coach and mentor and coach leaders in the public and third sectors. The main focus of my work has been in the application of systemic and creative methods in education through ecl an innovative international initiative which I co-led as part of the work of the nowhere foundation. We worked with leaders, policy makers, teachers, parents and other professionals in a variety of ways to support children and young people with wellbeing, learning and creativity. Meeting Life as a Creative Adventure has been a wonderful project for 2020. This virtual programme for young adults supporting them to thrive in uncertainty and taking them through a unique experiential journey over five weeks - has been exhilarating and inspirational. Young people from all over the globe have connected and travelled together. I have loved it - am loving it!
