Background
About Jane MacOubrie
Research and communication professional, strong interest in high-impact, cost-effective research. Expertise in modeling variables impacting outcomes, developing evidence-based conceptual frameworks, survey-based metrics, qualitative coding, change communication, and in dissemination of evidence-based outcomes to practitioners. Accepting consulting projects and currently teaching in University of Southern California's online Master of Communication Management program. Courses currently include Communicating Strategy & Change, and a core course, Managing Communication. Conducted the first national studies on public perceptions of nanotechnology, regulation preferences, and underlying reasoning, for the National Nanotechnology Initiative and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. With National Science Foundation funding, developed and validated successful Internet-based methods for discovering consensus-based citizen policy recommendations, to offset the major difficulty of engaging people face to face at the national scale, and to provide balance to election- and division-dominated policy making. For a federal agency, conducted a very broad review of 'what works' in disseminating evidence to the field, and a practical dissemination framework based on interdisciplinary knowledge. Master course designer and highly rated teacher with a special skill in developing experiential learning devices. Additional research on decision logics, an applied framework for understanding the logical genesis of decision making, especially in groups. Analytical method can be applied to F2F or online groups, and by extension to survey methods.
