SUMMARY Work which benefits and brings joy to others is what motivates and drives me. Creating environments to help others prosper provides me with a sense of fulfilment and satisfaction. Industry areas I have experience in are Business, Education, Government and Sport. Whether the goal of my work is to implement/deliver a program initiative or reform, plan an event or improve and strengthen opportunities, I enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team to ensure desired outcomes are achieved for all parties. I started my career in the sports industry in London, UK working as part of a team in event and client management and then moved to Dublin, Ireland where I worked for the International Rugby Board (IRB, now World Rugby) organising 'Train the Trainer' coaching and refereeing workshops around the world for member unions to promote the growth of rugby union. It was a hard decision to leave the sporting industry, I thoroughly enjoyed my role with the IRB as it enabled me to deliver workshops globally and work with a range of interesting people from diverse cultures, plus the added bonus of attending many international rugby matches! However, when the opportunity to start and manage my own business presented itself, a voice in my head kept saying 'can you do this, can you run a business?' and I decided to test myself and take on the challenge. Running a business took me on a continuous learning journey, both professionally and personally. Professionally acquiring skills in project management, business development, client/account management, relationship building, strategic planning, financial budgeting, marketing and communications as well as learning how to build a good team culture, all whilst undergoing enormous personal growth. Managing a business is a steep learning curve! 18 years in business answered the question, can I do this? My career path changed in 2018 to focus on education, an industry I trained and worked in previously as a teacher. My roles in the Victorian Government in the Department of Education (DE) have enabled me to work on implementing and delivering a diverse range of program initiatives to improve student outcomes, promote child wellbeing and safety, address barriers and drive change.
