About Jane Richards

I have been a passionate advocate for sustainability for many years, showcased by my food and environment blog Green Eatz. In 2017, I graduated with distinction with a Sustainability Certificate from UCLA Extension, and have been involved in environmental activism for over a decade. In August 2018, I completed the Climate Reality Project Leadership training, led by Al Gore. Since 2013, I have been associated with the non-profit Cleantech Open, a startup incubator for cleantech entrepreneurs. In 2022, I worked for 6 months as their Interim Operations Director, managing the accelerator program and planning their annual flagship event. I am now involved as an outreach ambassador alongside mentoring in sustainability and pitching techniques and facilitating judging sessions. In 2021/22, I volunteered with the US Green Building Council, Los Angeles, mainly helping to manage their net zero accelerator program. In 2017/18, I worked for Sustainable San Mateo County as their Administrator, where I had the primary responsibility for the efficient running of this nonprofit organization. I started out in the UK as a software developer, initially in analysis and programming. I showed my potential as a leader and was soon promoted to project management roles. I then started my own software consultancy, Beach Computers, specializing in financial legacy systems. After moving to Australia in 2002, I also studied and qualified as a nutritionist, reinforcing my interest in veganism and healthy eating.
