About Jane Ridley

I am an LLM graduate in International Human Rights Law (University of York, Russell Group) with expertise in addressing complex human rights violations. My research has centred on abuses within high-control religious groups, where I conducted empirical work with survivors, lawyers, private investigators, and NGOs—creating space for storytelling, legal analysis, and empowerment. My professional journey spans both grassroots and institutional settings. With Asylum Access Malaysia, I co-authored a report on refugees’ access to justice, and my early work with North Yorkshire Police deepened my resolve to challenge systemic injustice. In Ireland, I have supported the Migrant Victim Support Project at Doras and now serve as a Migration Caseworker with the Irish Red Cross, applying legal and advocacy skills to assist vulnerable migrants and refugees. Beyond practice, I am an active contributor to international scholarship. I have spoken at three conferences, including the International Cultic Studies Association (ICSA), where I present on human rights violations in religious cults, weaving together legal frameworks with survivor advocacy.
