About Jane Rusher

Hello, I graduated from Connecticut College May 2024 with a B.A. in Biology. My concentration was in Ecology and I also have Botany and Environmental Studies minors. I have worked as a research assistant for multiple professors at my school and at a summer position at the Connecticut Agriculture Experiment Station. But as a junior in college I began doing some farming work for FRESH New London, a local community garden, community supported agriculture (CSA) program, and food justice organization, which was my introduction to the agricultural world. I really love this work and am motivated by the social justice and community-based aspects of the organization, providing accessible and healthy food to people in our city who would otherwise have a hard time getting it. Eventually, I would love to work for a non-profit organization in an urban area with similar goals, but for now I am looking to work for a sustainability-minded market production urban farm. This summer I am working on two organic and sustainable farms through the WWOOF organization to gain more experience, but I am looking for employment come September.
