About Jane Torbert

My hometown is historically known for being a haven for artists and writers. Being a product of said town, it is no wonder that the siren call awakened the writer in me as well. That writing has taken on different forms over the years, but has remained persistent throughout my career. I am a scientist passionate about discovering information and stories and bringing it to people so that they may make an informed decision or form a sensible opinion. In a world where it is increasingly important for people to educate themselves and make and form well-backed opinions, I want science to be for the people. It shouldn't only be for the educated, rather for those who wish to educate - themselves or otherwise. At present, I am working as research associate and PhD candidate at Leipzig University in the field of economics with a special focus on ecological, environmental and urban economics. In addition, I record and produce a podcast, Jane Talks to a Wall, where I discuss sustainability and fighting climate change, among other issues. In my free time, you can catch me finding inspiration in the mountains or at the sea, doing yoga, tending to my worm compost, and of course, writing about it all.
