About Jane Veys

I am a respected and enthusiastic optometric educator with broad experience in the contact lens industry, research and clinical practice. I have experience at board level, cross-functional team work and management of other professionals across Europe. I am an experienced scientific writer and international lecturer, with a strong ethical ethos. I am creative and a good communicator with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. Over my career I have lead the development of a number of eye health and vision related educational initiatives, and delivered innovative training programmes, which have been leveraged worldwide to inform eye care practitioners. I have recently retired as an optometrist after 40 years in the profession, with extensive experience in optometric education and evidence-based clinical practice. With 10 years in clinical practice and research in UK and Australia, and 25 years working with Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, most recently as Director- Global Professional Education, I have designed and developed innovative education programmes that have been leveraged around the globe. I have published more than 50 education articles, authored a contact lens textbook and created industry-leading digital education series. I am currently Clinical Editor for Acuity, a College of Optometrists membership journal and Chair of Trustees for Berkshire Vision, my local sight loss charity in the UK. I have been awarded honorary membership to IACLE and lifetime FIACLE this year. I am delighted to be able to continue my eye health advocacy with Vision Action, facilitating the delivery of new and innovative training of trainer course. My particular passions are patient satisfaction, public health and eye health promotion, and lifelong learning.
