About Janet Marshall

Sometimes feels like I've done everything in the area of communication since I was a 'cub' reporter - news, features, sub, editor, copy editor (fiction), corporate editor, PR, a bit of marketing, theatre reviews, public engagement, social media, stakeholder consultations. I've written about nearly every topic under the sun. Worked in industries including IT, finance, local government, education and publishing. I've travelled widely in my work, and have been involved in amazing projects in great British institutions such as Wimbledon LTA, and some hush-hush stuff I couldn't possibly mention. I've worked remotely since before it was even a thing. Freelance work spanned carrying out research for Age Concern on the demographic time bomb, writing about cheese festivals, explaining technology and software for non-tech people, and training managers in emotional intelligence. I think it's fair to say I've had a wide and varied career portfolio, but at the heart of it all lies communication - my secret power. I want to use my secret power for good. And in my spare time, apart from writing children's fiction, I volunteer for a not-for-profit vintage fashion shop (Hope & Glory) and sew my own clothes.
