About Janet Nay

As an Employment Advisor at World Jewish Relief, I support and mentor Ukrainian refugees to access the UK labour market and education opportunities, as part of the STEP Ukraine programme. I work remotely, providing guidance, feedback, and resources to help those that I support achieve their goals and work towards gaining meaningful employment in the UK. I have a BSc Honours in Psychology from The Open University, and a BA in Community Arts from the University of Strathclyde. Before joining World Jewish Relief in Sep 2023, I volunteered for two years as a Refugee Employability Training Facilitator and Support Worker at the Scottish Refugee Council, and for nine months as an Employment Advisor at RefuNet. In these roles, I co-facilitated employer-specific training sessions, led remote student support sessions for refugees studying with the Open University, and advocated for the participants' needs. I have strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills, and I am passionate about helping refugees to achieve their potential. I believe I can bring diverse perspectives and experiences to any role, as well as a commitment to organisational values and goals. Additionally, as a proud dyslexic thinker, I easily build a rapport with others, I have great communication skills, I am empathetic and work well as part of a team. I am also extremely motivated and focused, with creative ideas. My current contract ends in July 2024 and I am looking for a role that allows me to continue to support others to reach their goals & overcome the barriers to meeting those goals. I would particularly like to work in the sphere of refugee support or supporting those who are neurodivergent.
