Background
About Janet Pearce
As an elected Councillor in the Macedon Ranges Shire since 2016, I've honed my leadership skills through two years as Mayor and my current role as Deputy Mayor. My journey into local government began with active involvement in various community groups, notably as Chairperson of the Woodend Neighbourhood House. Inspired by my participation in the Loddon Murray Community Leadership Program (LMCLP) in 2013, I decided to pursue a career in local government. My passion lies in fostering supported and resilient communities, driving me to assist and support volunteers and community groups to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes. With 40 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and Midwife, I advocate strongly for social justice and prioritise community health. I'm committed to addressing community health challenges and work casually at Kyneton Hospital. My professional journey includes impactful work with Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in Rwanda and Tanzania, reinforcing my dedication to effecting positive change. I have also worked in Indigenous health. Together with my husband, a General Practitioner, I reside in Woodend where our three children have grown up over the last 23 years, cherishing the Macedon Ranges' safe and beautiful environment. Beyond work, I enjoy cycling, walking, participating in my book group, and singing. As a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD), I bring governance expertise to my role, serving on Council committees and a current board member of the Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA). Additionally, as the current Vice President Rural and Regional of the Australian Local Government Women’s Association, Victoria (ALGWA Vic), I advocate for women's representation and support in local government. My recent eight years as a board member at the Central Ranges Local Learning and Employment Network (CRLLEN) including on their finance committee and role as Vice- President was very rewarding with my passion for supporting our young people. With a focus on proactive collaboration and effective governance, I am committed to shaping a prosperous future for our community. Let's connect to explore opportunities for collaboration and drive positive change together.
