About Janet Wu

I’m passionate about empowering Children for a better future through lovable characters, stories, games and traditional educational toys. I started in design and have always had a creative flair and ability. My curiosity with solving problems and numbers led me to study accounting and finance. Flat Friends was the perfect business for me, it combined my love of the Flat Friends Characters and Stories with helping children in a fun way, and working with numbers, logistics and learning a variety of skills. I started with Flat Friends in 2009 and my passion for the brand, characters, stories, concept, and toys has kept me engaged. My role involves all aspects of accounts; payables, receivables, international payments and receipts, inventory management, tax returns, cost accounting to maintain our margins, and all the legal requirements for reporting. I have organised shipment of our goods focusing on all charges including port of exit and entry such as; administrative charges, duty, tariffs, taxes, port charges and exchange rates. Being a business owner and partner means that I have a broad and varied role. Each day brings new excitement and learning experiences. I have visited and sourced many factories for our business, working closely with our factories and customers. Simplifying communication means that our customers and factories are loyal to us.
