About Janey Kubly

I am currently a teacher of Writing at Byron Middle School. I teach all the eighth grade students in the district, differentiating instruction for all levels of students. I work closely with a team and fellow English teachers to implement curriculum and school policies to provide students with challenging curriculum and a consistent educational experience. Last year, I graduated from Northern Illinois University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' Master of Arts English Education Program. I am licensed to teach grades 6-12 in both the English Language Arts and Social Sciences. Additionally, I returned to Hononegah High School last spring, after student teaching at HHS in the fall, to fill a long-term substitute teaching position in which I taught the same classes and students I worked with during the fall semester. Seeing my students growth over the course of a year was an amazing opportunity! While studying in the graduate program at NIU, I held the position of a Teaching Intern, another enriching experience in working with students and identifying growth in their educational endeavors. More so, my passion is writing and the teaching of writing. Four of the sections of English I taught at HHS were writing intensive courses, allowing me to identify how my passion can be shared at the secondary educational level. I am also interested in including the teaching of writing in the field of the Social Sciences, a focus of the Common Core Standards. I am currently seeking employment opportunities to work with students at the middle and high school levels as well as the community college level.
