About Janey Wong

I'm a Hong Kong / Scotswoman living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, passionate about photography, writing, music, food, art and sports. Growing up I was part of a military youth group for 7 years which inspired me to join the Royal Air Force. However, I realised that the military was a strong first choice and perhaps another career path might be more gratifying. After making this life-changing decision I realised that University was out of the question. I had never been proficient at testing, I had no idea what to study, and all my peers had already left for University at this point. During this transition period I was given an opportunity of a lifetime and recruited to manage a family-run, mineral makeup company who whisked me away to Barcelona, Spain. This company inspired me to train myself in everything I could about digital marketing, which led to me to study SEO, social media strategy and content creation. I spent five years in Barcelona perfecting my craft, learning Spanish / Catalan and gaining as much experience and momentum as possible in order to achieve my goals as a freelancer. This was my only income, so I had no choice but to succeed. Everything I've accomplished today - I've taught myself and worked very hard for. What I lack in a University degree I make up for in real-life experience, determination and a savage work ethic. I'm a perfectionist at heart and committed to adapting to my clients' needs. I value clear communication, and endeavour to stay up-to-date with all the latest trends and algorithm updates. I'm proud to be a self-taught Social Media Strategist, and Community Manager, who loves to create beautiful and engaging content. My goal is to boost my family business to become your friendly, house-hold, online Viking products empire.
