Background

About Janice Chen

With a background in psychology and sociology, and training in mental health counseling at Columbia University, I am committed to leveraging research and clinical expertise to support individuals with their mental health. My professional experience spans roles as a research assistant, clinical support worker, and mental health counseling intern, where I’ve explored the environmental and socio-cultural factors influencing developmental disabilities and mental health outcomes. Ever since going on a missionary trip to the Philippines in middle school, I developed a strong interest in mental health-related careers. I love working with children and am currently involved in research and clinical positions that allow me to continuously learn from them. These experiences have strengthened my ability to actively listen and communicate with children and their caregivers. I am passionate about supporting underserved communities and have deepened my understanding of systemic challenges through both research and practice. Today, I continue this mission by integrating evidence-based approaches with direct care.
