One of the first questions you can remember being asked when you were younger is “what do you want to be when you grow up?” A question that holds so much weight, it shapes all your life decisions; what subjects you focus on, your role models, your interests and hobbies etc. All to gain this sense of accomplishment in that you were able to follow your dreams. Well, I’m a living testimony of how stumbling into a career can be a blessing in disguise! If you’d asked me that same question a few years earlier, you wouldn’t have heard a Recruiter. You would’ve heard a Lawyer, Social Worker or Real Estate Agent, all of which coincidentally catered to my love for helping others. To keep a long story short, after graduating High School, here in Jamaica and especially for the career path I’d selected, I had the to do 2 years of pre-university courses. I was just a few months away from starting my second year when life happened. An incident occurred that hindered my parents financially and left me with the dilemma of waiting a year at home before continuing my studies. For me that wasn’t an option! I decided it was time to change gears and get a job.I began my journey at IBEX as a Customer Service Representative. Within no time, I was promoted from Agent -> Team Lead -> Team Supervisor -> Recruiter. I’ll be honest never did this career path cross my mind. I was honored because this role allowed me the privilege of giving others like me, the opportunity to find/start their careers. I am responsible for finding the right persons for our Non-Agent roles internally or externally in the US.Since 2022, I have sourced, screened and vetted over 1,500 applicants. I have successfully filled 77 roles, 100% of which were closed within the allowed time to fill. I maintained a 98% system compliance level on the hires I have processed. In addition to assisting my team in closing over 100 additional open roles.
