About Janice Shaw

RN with 20 + years experience in the nursing field. I started my career in a Medical/Surgical ICU where we managed kidney and liver transplant patients, as well as other critically ill surgical patients. I spent the first 4 years of my career in the ICU, where I gained tremendous experience working along side many phenomenal seasoned nurses, which allowed me to advance my nursing knowledge and skill set. I then made a change and went in to home health nursing to allow for a better work/life balance. I was an RN case manager for 40+ patients and worked closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure good patient outcomes post hospital stay. During my time in home health, I had the privilege of taking on a role in leadership as the Director of Nursing for an agency with over 100 patients and approximately 20 full-time staff. After 10+ years in the home health setting, I was ready to return to the inpatient setting where I stepped away from the bedside and began a new role with a focus on care management and discharge planning, working with a hospitalist group that cares for high-acuity patients in a Level 1 trauma center that is also the safety net hospital for a large metropolitan area.
