Janice Will is usually delighted to find herself running a small business in Canton. She joined MOM (Main Office Mailers) in 1995 and was named to the Board in 1998. That was the same year MOM survived an arson fire that completely destroyed their Plymouth office."Rather than hide the facts for fear of scaring our customers, we sat around an employee’s kitchen table the morning after addressing postcards from a rolodex that happened to be at home," she recalls."In contacting our clients, we supplied first-hand details of the fire and a promise to find a way to meet their immediate and long-term needs. One correspondence included a color photo of the devastation and an update of our progress as we met customer expectations in ways both practical and ingenious. Another update included the quote by Jacob Braude:'Always behave like a duck. Keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the devil underneath.'"We did not lose one customer, testimony to our hard-earned reputation for taking care of business. Couple that with proper insurance, incredibly long hours and a willingness to accept help in a myriad of forms, and you stay afloat to fight the next battle, accept the next challenge, relish the rewards, inspire and be inspired by others," she added. Janice’s responsibilities increased immeasurably when her partner retired in 2005 and she was named President. Jason Will, her oldest son who had been working for the company since 2001, made a smooth transition to management and provides the professional support it takes to run the mailing operation successfully. In 2009 Janice became the main shareholder. The first order of business: completing the requirements to be certified as a women’s business enterprise (WBE). Janice is an alumni of the Academy of Strategic Business Solutions. She also works with Susan Gauthier of Mark Kamin & Associates, a business coaching program. Specialties: to mailings including business-to-business, saturation, newsletter, targeted consumer and political.
