Janine Walker is an Australian leader in human resources management and work, organisations and people. She was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2019. Janine is Chair of Metro South Hospital and Health Service, the provider of public health and hospital services in the Brisbane South, Logan, Redlands and Scenic Rim regions of Queensland. Incorporating the Princess Alexandra Hospital, QEII Jubilee Hospital, Beaudesert Hospital, Redlands Hospital, and Logan Hospital, and community health services, Metro South provides health services to over one million Queenslanders and operates a public budget in excess of $4 billion. She served as a Trustee Director of QSuper and the Australian Retirement Trust from 2021 to 2024. Her Human Resource Management leadership experience spans over twenty-five years’ and includes nearly 14 years leading the Office of HRM for Griffith University and nearly a decade leading industrial reform and human resources functions for Queensland’s health system. Janine is an Adjunct Professor in the Griffith Business School and has held a number of board appointments including, St Margaret’s Anglican Girls’ School and Sisters Inside, a community organisation serving and advocating for women in the criminal justice system. Additionally, she was an Independent Member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Public Trust Office of Qld from 2018 to 2024 and Independent Chair, Workplace Relations Committee of the Queensland Catholic Education Commission. Janine has served as Chair of All Hallows’ School, Board Member of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and two three year terms on the Board of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Chair of the Commission's Audit Committee. She is a tireless advocate for women’s education, equitable health outcomes, and excellence in public service. Janine was a broadcaster with the ABC from 1980-84 and is heard on ABC Radio from time to time commenting on workforce issues.
