About Janis Lander

I have parallel careers as an artist, writer and educator. All three careers converged in a satisfying way in the publication of "Spiritual Art & Art Education" based on my PhD and published January 2014 by Routledge/Taylor & Francis. The Monograph describes the systematic development of energy and consciousness in spiritual systems that deploy instructional art. I was a sessional lecturer at CCE, Sydney University 2013-2019:"Art and Philosophy of the Spirit". In 2020 I published a book with ATROPOS Press based on these lectures:"Art and Philosophy of the Spirit". I have been a professional artist most of my life. My work has been shortlisted in National Award exhibitions including the Portia Geach Portrait Prize, the Doug Moran Portrait Prize, The Archibald Salon de Refuses, the Black Swan, the Parliamentary Plein Air Prize and the Broken Hill Outback Prize. My work is in collections in Australia, Germany, France and the US. Artist -(oils; pastels; charcoal; etching and other printmaking techniques). Lecturer - Art History & Theory in contemporary spiritual systems. Facilitator - Vision/Art Workshops. Extensive experience curating art shows; writing/editing articles, catalogues & media releases. Professional editor - academic papers and creative writing.
