Background
About Jared Bisbikis
Passionate Educator | Advocate for Justice-Oriented Learning & Global Understanding Hello and welcome! I'm a dedicated humanities educator with a passion for social justice, intercultural exchange, and transformative teaching. My journey began during a pivotal year in Calaveras County, where a substitute teaching role sparked a deep love for the classroom. From teaching first grade to high school English, those early experiences solidified my commitment to nurturing young minds through meaningful, human-centered education. Academic Background: I hold a B.A. in International Studies with minors in Middle Eastern Studies and French from the University of San Francisco, where I graduated summa cum laude. My academic path reflects a commitment to exploring global systems, cultural identity, and inclusive policy, especially in relation to Middle Eastern and diasporic communities. Professional Experience: Prior to teaching, I gained invaluable experience through roles at the Office of Assemblymember Phil Ting and the U.S. Department of State’s Embassy in Tunisia. These positions deepened my understanding of public service, international relations, and policy analysis—tools I now bring into the classroom to inspire globally aware, civically engaged students. Global Lens: My international experiences studying and living in Tunisia, France, the Dominican Republic, and Belgium have shaped my worldview and teaching philosophy. I’ve participated in immersive Arabic and French language programs and engaged deeply with intercultural learning, all of which fuel my mission to create globally conscious curriculum and equitable learning spaces. Current Role: I am proud to serve as a 6th grade humanities teacher—teaching English Language Arts, Social Science, and Religion—at St. Gregory Catholic School in San Mateo, California. In this role, I strive to foster critical thinking, empathy, and curiosity in every lesson, empowering students to see themselves as agents of change in their communities and beyond. I am currently pursuing a Master's of Teaching in Urban Education and Social Justice at USF. With this next step, I aim to continue growing as a transformative educator committed to equity, student voice, and culturally responsive teaching. Let’s connect and collaborate to shape a future grounded in compassion, justice, and lifelong learning.
