About Jared Collister

When I was young, I dreamt of being in the NHL. I spent hours in my driveway scoring the OT winner in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals on a line with Eric Lindross & Steve Yzerman. I ended up in insurance, here is my story: I grew up in Mission, BC with three brothers and we moved to Calgary in 1997. I grew up playing the sport I loved. The highlight of my career was playing in the 2006 National Midget Telus Cup tournament. We lost in the Gold Medal game in triple OT, but the friendships I made that year have lasted all these years. I was never a gifted player, but I was a hard worker. In the words of a former teammate with over 10 years in the NHL: “Colly, you are the glue guy.” I brought energy every day and a positive influence while keeping the men working towards a common goal. I played out my junior career in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Canmore Eagles and St. Albert Steel. From there I attended Mount Royal University (MRU) where I played for the men’s varsity hockey team and completed my business degree. Pro hockey was an option, but I was ready to start a family with my wife and join the working ranks (plus I don’t think my body could take another knee or back surgery). The early days of my career were spent with a SaaS company implementing contractor and supplier information management strategies for the biggest companies in North America. I split my time in Calgary and Dallas where we headquartered. It was an awesome four years and I learned a ton about business and what hard work can achieve, but I always wanted to get into a sales role. I love helping people and I had a great insurance background. The past 5 years I have worked as an account executive at a number of brokerages. I gained a lot of experience as an outbound sales professional building strong relationships with C-suite executives. That wraps it up. I am excited about the future and where tomorrow will lead.
