About Jared Gerlach

My diverse background includes life science, analytical platform development, management, and research support. Today, I apply my experience and skills to help ensure University of Galway’s School of Business & Economics, School of Law, and Shannon College of Hotel Management researchers are competitive in winning funding from a portfolio of national and international sources. I have over 20 years' hands-on experience in science and scientific research. My experience spans affinity-based bioanalysis, biosensors, biochemistry and chemical biology across the fields of diagnostics, biotechnology, glycomics and proteomics. I have authored/coauthored more than 50 scientific publications and have contributed to more than 60 conference abstracts. My scientific work has included collaborations with academic partners across the United States, Europe and Brazil as well as industrial and clinical partnerships with Randox Diagnostics, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Mayo Clinic, among others. I have considerable experience with management of projects, personnel and physical resources in both research and business settings. I am also an active scientific peer reviewer and manuscript editor. In addition to my research career, I am a life-long photographer with a strong desire for my images to raise awareness and spark a desire for conservation. My photographs have been featured in EPA and European Commission publications and commended in national and international competitions.
